Karaoke tracks have always had one major restriction: if you couldn't find the instrumental version of a song, you simply couldn't sing it. It's a buzzkill. But now, LG has effectively claimed to solve this age-old problem—and yes, you guessed it right, with the help of AI in the speakers.
Earlier this Wednesday, LG introduced the new XBOOM Stage 501 speakers. This isn't just your typical loud party box. This new speaker is a truly "new year gift" for those who want to sing along to original music without the lead artist's voice getting in the way.
Enter the "AI Karaoke Master"
The company dubbed this new feature the “AI Karaoke Master.” It helps you easily sing along with background music without needing to wait for an official instrumental version to drop. LG explicitly claimed that this new AI feature was trained via “deep learning from over 10,000 songs.”
What does that actually mean for you? It means the LG XBOOM Stage 501 will surgically remove vocals from standard audio in real-time. For audiophiles and party hosts, this is the best supportive speaker for singing along with original studio recordings, something that just isn't possible with low-quality, midi-sounding karaoke tracks.
Local Processing vs. Cloud Lag: The Real Game Changer
Most "vocal remover" apps on the market today rely on cloud processing. This introduces lag, which is a massive dealbreaker for live performance. Lag doesn't just ruin your song; it ruins your confidence to sing, too.
LG’s approach with the XBOOM Stage 501 is different because it handles the processing locally on the hardware. As the system utilizes a proprietary algorithm trained on a massive dataset. Even if your song is brand new, that training on large datasets helps the AI easily distinguish the frequencies of the human voice (typically the mid-range) from the instrumentation.
When you press the dedicated "Karaoke Mode" button, the speaker essentially performs real-time phase cancellation of the vocal track and can even adjust the pitch accordingly. So, no more suffering through low-quality karaoke tracks.
Design and Battery: Built for the Party
The new XBOOM Stage 501 speakers also come with the same 5-sided design as their predecessor, featuring dual woofers for rich, thumping sound. Interestingly, this new speaker gives you complete control: you can either fully remove the vocals, duet with the lead artist, or just “keep vocals low if you are feeling shy”, all without special files or subscriptions.
Now, the question in your mind: how long will the battery last?
LG claims up to 25 hours of playback time as it comes with a 99Wh swappable battery. This is huge because you can easily swap the battery if it dies during your party or anywhere else.
This new speaker has just been introduced, and its price is not yet revealed. Once the company officially launches this, you can grab it from their official website.
