Calling all group chat coordinators! The days of chaotic text chains for planning outings, movie nights, or even virtual meetings are (almost) over. WhatsApp is finally rolling out a much-anticipated event planning feature for everyone's favorite group chat platform, and it's not just Android users getting the party started.

The news first surfaced through the watchful eyes of WABetaInfo, who spotted the feature being tested within WhatsApp Communities. This allowed community members to streamline event organization directly within their group chats, a boon for scheduling online gatherings or social get-togethers. But it seems WhatsApp isn't stopping there.

Leaked via the latest WhatsApp beta for Android (version 2.24.14.9) and iOS (version 24.13.72), the event planning feature is now experiencing a wider rollout, making its way to regular group chats on both operating systems. This exciting development promises to enhance collaboration and coordination within your most treasured WhatsApp circles.

Think of it as adding a built-in calendar to your group chat. Here's how it works: you, the ever-reliable group organizer, can now create events with details like a catchy name, a descriptive blurb, the all-important date, and even an optional location pin. Need a video call for a virtual game night? No problem, you can specify that too.

Creating an Event in Your Group Chat:

  1. Open your desired WhatsApp group chat.
  2. Tap the paperclip attachment icon (it looks like a binder clip).
  3. Select "Event" from the attachment options.
  4. Fill in the event details: Enter a catchy name, write a descriptive blurb, choose the date and time, and add an optional location if needed. You can also specify if a voice or video call is required for the event.
  5. Hit the send button (the green arrow) to share the event with your group members.
Once the event is created, your fellow group members can view the details and RSVP with a simple tap. But fear not, control remains firmly in your hands – the event creator has the power to edit details as needed, keeping everyone on the same page.

And for the privacy-conscious amongst us, fret no more. WhatsApp assures us that these events remain securely encrypted end-to-end. This means only the participants in the conversation have access to the event details and communication, ensuring peace of mind for all involved.

The wider rollout signifies that the event planning feature is nearing a public release, even for those not enrolled in the WhatsApp beta program on either Android or iOS. So, get ready to ditch the endless "what time works for everyone?" messages and elevate your group chat coordination to a whole new level. The era of organized group activities – all within the familiar confines of WhatsApp – is just around the corner.
