In today's rapidly evolving AI landscape, Microsoft has finally delivered a highly anticipated and essential feature: a free AI video generator directly within Bing. While competitors like Google have advanced significantly, recently showcasing the impressive Google Veo 3 at I/O 2025, Bing's new offering brings powerful AI video creation to the masses without any cost barrier.

Today's official announcement from Microsoft Bing introduces the new Bing Video Creator, powered by OpenAI's groundbreaking Sora AI video generator. This innovative tool empowers users to transform their text descriptions into captivating 5-second video clips. As Bing succinctly puts it, "Just describe what you want to see and watch your vision come to life." The Bing Video Creator offers two generation speeds: Standard and Fast. The Standard generation speed is completely free for all users, while the Fast generation allows for quicker video creation in seconds. However, there's a small detail to note: users receive 10 initial "Fast creations" for free. After these are used, additional "Fast creations" can be redeemed for 100 Microsoft Rewards points each, or users can continue utilizing the free Standard creation speeds.

The new Bing Video Creator is rolling out starting today, June 2, 2025, for all global Bing Mobile app users. Desktop accessibility is promised "soon," which is excellent news for a wider user base. Currently, videos are 5 seconds long and generated in the 9:16 vertical format, with the widely used 16:9 widescreen format "coming soon." Users can efficiently queue up to three video generations simultaneously. If all three slots are occupied, a brief wait is required until a slot becomes available. Accessing this feature is intuitive: simply open the Bing Mobile app, tap the menu in the bottom-right corner, and select "Video Creator." You can then provide your prompt to generate a video based on your ideas. For even quicker access, you can also type your prompt directly into the Bing mobile app search bar.

Microsoft also shared an example video generated by the Bing Video Creator, based on the prompt: "In a busy Italian pizza restaurant, a small otter works as a chef and wears a chef’s hat and an apron. He kneads the dough with his paws and is surrounded by other pizza ingredients." While the generated video's quality, in this specific example, appeared more "cartoonish" compared to the highly realistic and naturalistic output from competitors like Google's new Veo 3 in Google Flow, which even incorporates audio, it's important to remember this is a new, free tool. We are hopeful that subsequent iterations will bring significant improvements in visual quality and realism, further enhancing the user experience.
