Is this a new shift in the AI world? The tech giant Google, which has been very active in the artificial intelligence arena, has now officially launched its Search Live feature. This new tool will allow you to get answers to your questions in real time with the help of AI. The feature is currently available to US users starting today through their Google apps.
From Google Labs to Public Release
Back in June 2025, Google first unveiled this new Search Live feature for testing purposes through its Google Labs program. Today, the company has formally announced the rollout of Search Live to the general public, accessible without the need for Search Labs.
This new feature allows you to have a real-time conversation with AI to ask anything you need. You can either ask a question or even share your screen using the new video button, similar to a talk with a friend. For example, you could say, "Hey buddy, what do I need to do to run this machine?" With Search Live, you can easily get answers back and forth. You no longer need to record your voice first, have the AI process the search, and then answer your query in a long paragraph. The interesting thing about this new Search Live feature is that the AI will also provide you with relevant search links from the web.
Key Features of Search Live
This new Search Live feature also comes with three options on the main screen. Two prominent options will appear: the ability to mute the AI's voice and to access a live transcript of your conversation. In case you forget what the AI said, there is also a transcript option that provides a chat box where the entire conversation is available in text format, offering the flexibility to switch between voice and text input. Furthermore, Google intelligently stores your previous AI Search history, allowing you to seamlessly pick up where you last left off.
Practical Applications and Demonstrations
Google also shared plenty of examples demonstrating the new Search Live feature. In one example, a person wants to understand a new skill, "like crafting the perfect cup of matcha." The video suggests that the person points their camera toward the equipment and starts a real-time search talk, and the AI helps the person to try a new hobby and make a perfect cup of matcha. This is a pretty decent and important update, as it will definitely help plenty of users who want to get help in real time.
How to Access Search Live
To access this new Search Live feature, you just need to go to the Google app on either your iOS or Android device. You will then see a new Search Live button beneath the search bar. After clicking on the button, you can easily talk with the AI and share your camera to get help in real time. This new feature is currently available to US users and only supports English. So, if your region hasn't received it yet, you may need to wait, as it may be available soon.
