iOS 18.4 is expected to release in April 2025 with a major Siri upgrade - What to expect
The latest report by Gurman predicted a Major Siri upgrade, new Emojis, and more language support for Apple Intelligence in iOS 18.4
Apple is set to unleash a major Siri upgrade with the arrival of iOS 18.4 in April 2025. This news comes from renowned Apple insider Mark Gurman, who has consistently provided accurate insights into Apple's roadmap. Gurman hinted at this significant Siri overhaul before WWDC 2025, alongside expanded language support for Apple Intelligence (a key feature introduced in iOS 18.1).
While Apple Intelligence was a major highlight of the iPhone 16 launch last September, it was not initially available at launch. This upcoming Siri upgrade marks a crucial step in Apple's AI advancements, positioning Siri as a more sophisticated personal assistant.
With this update, Siri is poised to gain on-screen awareness and leverage personal context, making interactions more intuitive and helpful. Gurman previously hinted at ChatGPT integration with Siri towards the end of 2024, which has indeed come to fruition. This integration, combined with Apple Intelligence, will enable Siri to perform tasks similar to those seen in Samsung's latest Galaxy S25 series. For example, users will be able to ask Siri about an item displayed on the screen, have Siri search for it online, and then seamlessly add it to their calendar.
Apple Intelligence itself is poised for a global expansion. Recall that with the release of iOS 18.2, Apple announced plans to extend Apple Intelligence support to additional languages throughout 2025. Starting in April, a software update will deliver expanded language support, encompassing Chinese, English (India), English (Singapore), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese, and other languages.
While Apple Intelligence and Siri enhancements take center stage, iOS 18.4 will also bring the usual array of refinements, including a fresh batch of emoji. Following the trend of recent years, Apple will likely introduce new emojis in its spring iOS release. The Unicode Consortium has already unveiled the latest emoji additions, including a fingerprint, a face with bags under eyes, a harp, a root vegetable, a leafless tree, a splatter, and a shovel.
Apple users are highly anticipating this Siri upgrade in iOS 18.4, which promises to significantly enhance the overall iPhone experience.
