The upcoming update will not be a feature-packed release. Instead, it’s being delivered as a streamlined “enablement package.”

Understanding the 'No-New-Features' Label

Microsoft has officially confirmed that the new Windows 11 25H2 will not include any new features that aren't already present in the existing Windows 11 24H2. This means the rumors are true: the upcoming 25H2 update will focus on streamlined upgrades, enhanced stability, improved performance, and a renewed emphasis on security for both consumers and enterprises.

To achieve this, Microsoft has officially stated that "Windows 11, version 25H2 will be delivered as an enablement package (eKB)." The official blog post also clarifies that both versions of Windows 11 share the same servicing branch. This approach ensures feature parity, meaning any new features introduced are already available in the 24H2 version, eliminating the need for a major, disruptive feature drop in the 25H2 release.

Features Removed and Enterprise-Level Changes

While the primary goal of this update isn't to add new features, Microsoft has confirmed that it will remove certain features from 25H2 that were present in the 24H2 version. Although the removal of these features will not affect the general consumer, it may impact developers and enterprise users. For most users already on Windows 11 24H2, there is no urgent need to rush to the Release Preview Channel. You will eventually receive all the same updates and improvements through regular monthly updates.

However, if you are a power user or a developer, joining the Release Preview Channel allows you to get an early look at the stability of the final build. To get the update, you must first enroll your device in the Windows Insider Program. Once enrolled, navigate to Settings > Windows Update and check for updates. The streamlined upgrade process means there is minimal risk of a major system crash, making it a relatively safe experience for those who like to stay on the cutting edge.
