In the tech world, every company strives to delight its users with genuine innovations. This time, we're witnessing an incremental yet compelling advancement—a leading mobile company is exploring a novel approach to captivate customers: the sheer thinness of its devices. Samsung, the South Korean tech giant, appears poised to unveil what could be its thinnest smartphone to date. Following a brief glimpse at Galaxy Unpacked 2025, alongside the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S25 series, the first hands-on video of the Galaxy S25 Edge has surfaced online.
Samsung's potential thinnest smartphone, the Galaxy S25 Edge, was initially teased at Unpacked 2025 and has now been featured in a leaked, fully functional hands-on video. A YouTuber, Alexis Garza, reportedly gained access to the S25 Edge and uploaded a video on Sunday (subsequently removed) that offered a visual comparison of its thinness against the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which measures 5.65 mm when unfolded. The footage suggests that the Galaxy S25 Edge is marginally thicker than the unfolded Z Fold 6, indicating a thickness of under 6 mm. Therefore, it's reasonable to refer to this smartphone as Samsung's thinnest, particularly when compared to the 7.4 mm thickness of its flagship sibling, the Galaxy S25.
The leaked video hints that the Galaxy S25 Edge is not merely slim but also a formidable smartphone in its own right. According to the AIDA64 app, as seen on the alleged S25 Edge, Samsung has integrated the Snapdragon 8 Gen Elite, a high-performance chipset, paired with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. While it's currently unconfirmed whether Samsung will offer only the 256 GB variant, we anticipate the potential introduction of 512 GB and 1 TB options.
Further details gleaned from the video suggest the Galaxy S25 Edge will feature a dual rear camera setup and a single front-facing camera. Although the main camera was previously rumored to be 200 MP, the AIDA64 app displayed three 12 MP cameras, potentially including the selfie camera. The Galaxy S25 Edge is also confirmed to support Bluetooth 5.4 and house a slightly larger 4000 mAh battery compared to the Galaxy S25.
It's important to acknowledge Samsung's discreet approach, as they have yet to officially disclose any specific details about the upcoming Galaxy S25 Edge. Information regarding its release and pricing remains closely guarded. However, there's a strong likelihood that Samsung's thinnest smartphone, the Galaxy S25 Edge, may debut in Q2 of 2025, aligning with Samsung's typical launch timeline for its foldable smartphones.
Stay tuned, we'll keep you updated as soon as Samsung officially unveils this device.
