Have you ever felt the frustration of uncertainty when online shopping, constantly guessing whether that selected suit, those chic glasses, or a specific pair of shoes will genuinely flatter you? The days of such guesswork are rapidly becoming a relic of the past, as Google has arrived to revolutionize your digital shopping experience. The recent Google I/O 2025 event, while now concluded, unveiled a cornucopia of groundbreaking AI feature models. Among these, a truly transformative AI-powered innovation, the Virtual Try-On, has been introduced, designed to let you effortlessly try on clothes on your body without any need for physical interaction.
This week, Google debuted this innovative Virtual Try-On feature, further pushing the boundaries of artificial intelligence. The long-held dream of a "virtual fitting room," a staple in futuristic visions, is now a tangible reality. Imagine no more agonizing over whether a particular dress will truly flatter your figure, or if those new pants will drape precisely as desired. Google is rolling out a feature that enables you to upload your own full-length photo and instantly visualize how a piece of clothing — be it a top, dress, skirt, or pants — will appear on you. This isn't about generic models; it's about seeing the garment rendered virtually with stunning accuracy on your body. So, you no longer need to speculate if an item that looks good on a model will suit you; simply upload your image and gain a realistic glimpse of how it will fit.
This groundbreaking "Try it on" feature is powered by advanced AI technology, specifically operating on a "new custom image generation model for fashion." This sophisticated model has been remarkably trained on diverse body shapes, ensuring users receive an incredibly realistic virtual experience. Google, in its announcement blog, further elaborated on this feature's core capability: it "understands the human body and nuances of clothing — like how different materials fold, stretch, and drape on different bodies. It preserves these subtleties when applied to poses in your photos." Essentially, you provide the Google AI model with your picture – ideally a clear, full-body shot with good lighting, no hands in pockets, and fitted clothes – and the AI meticulously notes the minor details of your body, then accurately applies the chosen apparel to it.

This groundbreaking "try it on" functionality is currently being rolled out within Search Labs in the US. By simply opting into this experiment and clicking the "try it on" button located next to apparel items in Google Search results, users can initiate this transformative process. This marks a new era for the fashion shopping industry. Furthermore, the ability to save and share these personalized images significantly enhances the social dimension of shopping, making it easier to gather quick feedback from friends or family.
Beyond the "Try it on" feature, Google is also deeply integrating this enhanced shopping experience directly into AI Mode, the powerful, Gemini-powered search experience that began its wider rollout in March. Soon, if you're utilizing AI Mode and express a need for something like a "new travel bag," the system won't just present generic results. Instead, it will proactively display a personalized panel of images and product listings, intelligently tailored to your inferred tastes and specific requirements.
Another notable innovation is the new "agentic" checkout feature. This advanced tool keeps track of your selected price when you click on "track price" for a product and will notify you when the price drops to your desired amount. For instance, if you're eyeing a "Transited quilt bag" and set a price alert, Google will notify you the moment it reaches your preferred price.
