Microsoft |
An Artificial Intelligence (AI) key on your keyboard, yes you heard right, Microsoft recently introduced a new Copilot AI key for its upcoming Windows 11 keyboards. The operating system giant is rashly advancing towards making 2024 a year of AI.
Microsoft is the biggest and key investor in OpenAI, and its integrated AI into many products like Microsoft 365 and Bing Search rebranded as Copilot AI in 2023. As it has a partnership with OpenAI, its Copilot is based on the GPT-4 model of ChatGPT that can perform many professional tasks like summarizing meetings and searching for information. It also provides text-to-image processing based on the DALL-E3 system.
This is the first biggest change we saw on Microsoft Keyboards in three decades. The company for introducing this landmark change, prefers these transformative words, " Nearly 30 years ago, we introduced the Windows key to the PC keyboard that enabled people all over the world to interact with Windows", says Yusuf Mehdi, Executive Vice President in its blog. He further added, "We see this as another transformative moment in our journey with Windows where Copilot will be the entry point into the world of AI on the PC".
Still now, Windows 11 users are able to access Copilot AI from the keyboard with a combination of Windows key+ C, but the new one is going to replace the menu key which was launched 30 years ago. The new key is placed at the right-hand alt key on keyboards. He says, "The new key will invoke the Copilot in Windows experience to make it seamless to engage Copilot in your day to day".
We are one week away from seeing the first glimpse of the Copilot key on a Windows 11 PC keyboard, as it will be present at a CES event in Las Vegas. Back in 2023, When the Copilot was integrated into Microsoft 365 users were able to use it for composing emails, summarizing, and creating presentations. Many rivals are also integrating their AI in the market like Google Bard based on Gemini, X Grok but the largest and most powerful AI system fueling competitors to build their own systems is ChatGPT 2022. Recently, Microsoft also launched its Copilot AI as an app for iOS and Android users.
